SILTEX
What is Siltex?
Siltex is a highly porous form of calcium carbonate, or chalk, made up of minute particles.
It works as a natural and inexpensive way to reduce organic silt and improve water quality in ponds, lakes and rivers. Siltex is environmentally friendly and harmless to plants and animals, because it recycles organic material it is also a great benefit to aquatic ecosystems.
Where to Use Siltex
Siltex can be used in freshwater environments such as ponds, lakes, reservoirs, rivers, canals and fisheries where organic silt accumulation is a problem. It can also be used to raise the pH value of water bodies suffering form acidification.
Benefits of Siltex?
-
Decreases organic and oxidisable matter which is displayed as a reduction in silt levels.
-
Increases oxygenation and stimulates aerobic micro-organisms.
-
Improves water clarity by settling suspended waterborne solids.
-
Reduces methane production by silt body.
-
Counteracts acidity in the water and the silt.
-
Provides essential calcium for plants and wildlife.
-
Increases biodiversity within the water bodies

Our Opperation
Our supply of Siltex is the only producer in the UK, the super fine chalk cannot be found anywhere else due to the grade and rarity of is make up. Our supply originates from the Needham Chalks quarry in Ipswich where they produce and bag our aquatic chalk.
Application
Siltex should be applied in whole at 1 Tonne/acre. We find the best way on large bodies of water is to use a boat and an outboard engine to mix in the chalk as we pour it in. For ponds, Siltex can be applied in emulsion form, simply mix it with water and distribute evenly over the pond's surface.
